A good supplier makes your business; a bad one can break it. Whether you buy products, raw materials or services, the steps to find a reliable supplier in the Gulf are the same.
1. Write down exactly what you need
Before you search, be precise:
- the product or service, with its specifications,
- the quantity per order and per month,
- the delivery city and the time you can wait,
- the certificates you need (for example food safety or quality standards),
- your budget and how you will pay.
Suppliers answer faster and better when the request is clear.
2. Look in more than one place
Ask people in your sector, visit trade fairs, contact chambers of commerce and search online. On Sharksme you can browse Suppliers, Manufacturers and Export & Import, filtered by country, or add a "Looking for" post so suppliers come to you.
3. Compare at least three
Do not stop at the first answer. Ask three suppliers for the same offer and compare price, quality, delivery time, payment terms and how quickly and clearly they answer you.
4. Check before the first order
- Ask for the company name and trade licence, and check it.
- Ask for references from other customers, and call one.
- Ask for samples before a large order.
- Visit, or ask for a video call from the warehouse or factory.
5. Start small and put it in writing
Place a small first order. Write the price, quantity, quality, delivery date and what happens if something goes wrong. Pay through a traceable method, never in cash to a person you have not checked.
6. Watch for warning signs
- A price far below everyone else.
- Pressure to pay everything in advance, quickly.
- Bank details that change, or a company name that does not match the account.
- No address, no licence, no references.
Looking for a supplier now? Add a "Looking for" post on Sharksme and let suppliers contact you.
